Sheikh Hasina pays respect to martyred family members

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday paid her respects to the martyred family members of Bangabandhu at the Banani graveyard on the occasion of the Awami League's (AL) win in the 12th Parliamentary Elections.

Sheikh Hasina offered munajat at Banani graveyards at around 7am in the morning. Sheikh Hasina's daughter Saima Wazed, younger sister Sheikh Rehana, and Sheikh Rehana's son Radwan Mujib Siddiq were also present.

Later, she also paid homage to the Father of the Nation by placing a wreath at his portrait in front of the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi 32.

The Awami League (AL) secured its fourth straight term in parliament in the 12th national elections, on January 7 (Sunday).

AL President Sheikh Hasina is expected to serve another five years in office after the AL and its allies won 223 of 299 parliamentary seats contested.
