39 arrested in DMP anti-drug drives

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 39 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs in the capital in the last 24 hours.

Several drives were carried out simultaneously at different parts of the metropolis from 6am on Wednesday to 6am on Thursday, according to a DMP release.

During the anti-drug drives, police seized 4,024 pieces of contraband Yaba tablets, 5kg 90gm of cannabis (ganja), 81.2 gm of heroin, 2 litres of local alcohol and 2 litres of foreign alcohol, the release added.

Police filed 30 separate cases against the arrestees in these connections with respective police stations under the Narcotics Control Act.
