2 Dhaka-bound flights diverted to Kolkata due to dense fog

Two international flights bound for the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka failed to land due to dense fog and were diverted to Kolkata on Sunday.

However, the flight operation in HSIA resumed as the fog dissipated late morning.

According to HSIA Executive Director Group Captain Muhammed Kamrul Islam, the airport was blanketed in thick fog since dawn, so two flights failed to land today. One of them was a Bangladesh Biman flight from Dammam and another was a Qatar Airways flight from Doha. These flights were scheduled to land in HSIA between 7:30am to 8am. 

Later, the flights landed at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata. They will soon fly to Dhaka.
