Secondary schools can be shut if max temperature dips below 10 degrees Celsius

The administration may choose to keep the secondary schools closed if the district's maximum temperature falls below 10 degrees Celsius, according to the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE).

The DSHE published the instruction in a circular.

Earlier, it said that the administration may choose to keep the secondary schools closed if the district's maximum temperature falls below 17 degrees Celsius.

"Severe cold waves are currently sweeping over different districts of the country," the notice said. The children’s routine educational activities are being disrupted by the weather.

"In this regard, the regional deputy directors, in consultation with the district education officers, may keep the secondary level educational institutions closed if the district witnesses maximum temperature below 10 degrees Celsius [as per weather forecast of the concerned meteorological office."

The circular states that certain institutions will be closed until the mercury rises to 10 degrees Celsius or higher.
