Engineer's body recovered from hotel in Dhaka

Police have recovered the body of an engineer from a hotel in the capital's Nayapaltan.

The deceased was identified as Abbas Uddin, 55. The engineer was an official of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC). He hails from Cumilla's Muradnagar.

Confirming the matter, BIWTC PR official Nazrul Islam Misha said Abbas Uddin was the engineer in charge of Chattogram Sadarghat BIWTC.

Paltan Police Station SI Kamrul Islam said Abbas Uddin checked in room number 304 of 'Hotel The Capital' of VIP road on January 13. He was scheduled to check out on Tuesday afternoon. However, there was no response from the room. The hotel authority informed the police, who broke into the room at around midnight. The body was found in the en suite.
