41 arrested in DMP anti-drug drives

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 41 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs in the capital in the last 24 hours.

Several drives were carried out simultaneously at different parts of the metropolis from 6am on Tuesday to 6am on Wednesday, according to a DMP release.

During the anti-drug drives, police seized 20,832 pieces of contraband Yaba tablets, 17 kg 750 gm of cannabis (ganja), 8.5 gm of heroin, and 53 bottles of Phensedyl, the release added.

Police filed 30 separate cases against the arrestees in these connections with respective police stations under the Narcotics Control Act.
