Dummy election was not free, participatory: TIB

Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) has claimed that the 12th national polls were one-sided and fixed. It was not free and participatory.

This claim was made in a research report titled "12th National Parliament Election Process Tracking," which the TIB represented at their office in the capital's Dhanmondi on Wednesday.

According to the report, the claim of 41.8 per cent of vote casting has caused controversies. Moreover, as 15 registered political parties including the BNP were absent from the polls, participatory polls did not happen in at least 241 seats.

Such an election process is a bad omen for democracy, TIB said.
