Evaly's Rassel secures bail

A Dhaka court has granted bail to Evaly Managing Director (MD) Mohammad Rassel in a cheque fraud case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ali Haider's court granted bail in the case on Wednesday, the plaintiff's lawyer Sadiqur Rahman Tamal confirmed.

Previously, the Evaly MD and Chairman Shamima Nasrin were summoned to the court in the case. As they failed to be present at the court, on January 15 the same court issued arrest warrants against them.

As Rassel surrendered at the court and applied for bail, the court granted it. However, Shamima did not show up at the court.

According to the case documents, the plaintiff Tanvir Hossain paid Tk 2,45,000 through mobile banking to Evaly to purchase a motorbike on March 13, 2021. However, Evaly failed to deliver the product within 45 days.

On September 13, Evaly gave him a bank cheque of the same amount, which was dishonoured at several banks. Regarding the matter, a legal notice was sent to Evaly on October 22. As they failed to take any measures, the case was filed against Rassel and Shamima.
