US taking steps to deepen ties with Bangladesh

The United States is taking steps to deepen its partnership with Bangladesh. Additionally, it is also engaging with non-government entities of the country as well.

US Department of State's Principal Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel made the remarks at a department press briefing on Monday.

Vedant said, "There are a number of steps that we have and will continue to take when it comes to deepening our partnership with Bangladesh."

Mentioning that the last year was an important milestone in the US's diplomatic relations with Bangladesh, the spokesperson said there are several areas such as addressing climate cooperation and security cooperation where the US believes there is opportunity. 

"Of course, through that there – we have the opportunity to also engage with nongovernment actors as well, which we believe is also key and critical to deepening this relationship also," he added.
