5 flights fail to land at HSIA

Five international flights failed to land at Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport due to dense fog early on Wednesday.

As a result, four of those flights were diverted to land at Sylhet, and one at Kolkata.

According to HSIA Executive Director Group Captain Muhammed Kamrul Islam, heavy fog blanketed the airport from Wednesday dawn.

The flights failed to land from 3am to 9am. Flight movement returned to normal after 9am when the fog dissipated.
