Amir Khasru secures bail in Paltan case

A Dhaka court has granted bail to BNP standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury in a case filed with the capital's Paltan Police Station.

As the BNP leader was produced before the court on Wednesday, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain passed the order on a Tk 10,000 bond.

Till now, Khasru secured bail in 9 out of 10 cases. His plea for bail in the case filed for vandalizing the Chief Justice's residence was rejected. The defendant's lawyer Abdus Samal Himel confirmed the matter to journalists.

A constable was killed during BNP's grand rally on October 28 last year while performing duty at Naya Paltan. Also, the residence of the Chief Justice was vandalized by some BNP men during the mayhem.

Police filed 10 separate cases the following night against 164 BNP leaders and activists, including Fakhrul and Khasru.
