Road crashes claim lives of 1,128 children in 2023

A total of 6,911 traffic accidents caused at least 6,524 deaths and 11,407 injuries in the year of 2023, according to a statement released by the Road Safety Foundation on Saturday.

The organization said that among the fatalities, 974 people (14.92 percent) were women and 1,128 people (17.29 percent) were children.

The organization held a news conference on Saturday at its Dhanmondi office in the city.

According to the report, 2,487 persons died in 2,532 motorcycle-related accidents in 2023.

Prof. AI Mahbub Uddin Ahmed, the chairman of the Road Safety Foundation, revealed the data taken from media outlets.
