No more illegal entry to be allowed: BGB DG

No matter what the situation, not a single person will be allowed illegal entry into Bangladesh again, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Director General (DG) Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui has said.

"Myanmar border situation is completely under the control of BGB now. We are following the prime minister's orders to maintain patience. Efforts are underway to tackle the situation humanely while maintaining international harmony," he said at a press conference on Wednesday morning.

The BGB DG visited the Ghumdhum and Naikhongchhari areas of Naikhongchhari Upazila under Bandarban and exchanged views with the BGB men on duty.

He also visited Border Guard Police (BGP) soldiers, Myanmar police, Immigration officials, and Myanmar army members who have taken refuge in Bangladesh to escape the conflict. He paid visits to the ones that are injured and being treated at hospitals.

Till now, 264 people from different agencies in Myanmar have entered Bangladesh and have been taken into custody by the BGB.
