No chance of leniency for Rohingya trespassing: Quader

Rohingyas will no longer be allowed to trespass into Bangladesh. Once leniency was shown by opening up the border, now there is no chance of showing that leniency again, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said on Wednesday.

He made the remarks at a press conference held at Setu Bhaban in the capital.

"Rohingyas have become a liability. The international aid for them has dwindled. In this situation, how long will we bear the burden?" he said.

Quader termed the ongoing conflict between the Myanmar Army and the rebel group Arakan Army as an internal matter.

"Whatever they do about this matter is their headache. We will talk to those concerned so that this situation does not create apprehension or anxiety in Bangladesh. The foreign minister has gone to India. We are also discussing the matter with China," he added.
