Shab-e-Barat on February 25

Shab-e-Barat will be celebrated on the night of February 25.

The decision came from the National Moon Sighting Committee’s meeting held Sunday to fix the date of the holy Shab-e-Barat of Hijri 1445 after reviewing reports on the appearance of the new moon of Shaban month.

The meeting was held at the Islamic Foundation conference room at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 6:15pm on Sunday after Magrib prayers with Religious Affairs Minister Md Faridul Haque Khan in the chair.

People observe Shab-e-Barat on the fifteenth night of the Arabic month of Sha'ban. The moment when Muslims pray to Allah and seek forgiveness for their transgressions is considered a sacred occasion. 

It is believed to absolve them of their sins and bestow upon them prosperity for the entire year.

Devoted Muslims will offer special prayers and beg Almighty Allah for blessings for the welfare of humanity in addition to reciting the Holy Quran and hosting religious gatherings.
