Fakhrul, Khasru get bail in CJ's residence attack case

A Dhaka court on Wednesday allowed bail to BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury in a case filed over attack on Chief Justice's official residence, paving way for setting them free from jail.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge court acting judge Foysal Bin Atiq passed the order, after holding hearing on the pleas of the two BNP leaders. 

Detective branch (DB) of police arrested Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir from his Gulshan residence on October 29, 2023. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shafi Uddin sent him to jail in a case lodged over attack on the official residence of Chief Justice (CJ) during BNP's grand rally in the city's Nayapaltan area on October 28.

Police in the early hours of November 3, 2023, picked up Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury from his Gulshan flat. He was placed on six-day remand in a case lodged over murder of police constable Amirul Islam Pervej on October 28.
