Confusion over cause of deaths of DoE director, his wife

The causes deaths of Director of Department of Environment of Dhaka region Syed Nazmul Ahsan, 56, and his wife Nahid Binte Alam, 48, are not clear.

The couple died while undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the city. 

Syed Nazmul Ahsan died in Shaheed Suhrawardy Hospital on Wednesday while his wife Nahid died on Thursday morning during taking treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). 

Sub-Inspector of Mirpur Model Police Station Mizanur Rahman said Nazmul Ahsan was taken to Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital on Wednesday afternoon where on-duty doctors declared him dead. 

Meanwhile, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Mirpur Model Police Station Kanchan Nahar said Nahid Alam was admitted to Bangabandhu Medical College Hospital on Wednesday night. She died at 9:30 am on Thursday while being treated.

More details will be given after investigation and post-mortem reports, said the police officials.

The couple lived in Mirpur-2 Officers’ Quarters with their two daughters. Nazmul's village house is in Magura Sadar Upazila.
