Power tariff to be effective from February instead of March

The state minister for energy, power, and mineral resources, Nasrul Hamid, declared that the increase in the power rate will go into effect on February 1 instead of March 1. 

He told reporters at his ministry that the electricity rate change will be announced in the gazette on THursday.

He had earlier said that the higher rate will go into effect on March 1.

He states that the price of gas will go up by Tk0.75 per unit only for power plants, and the price of power will go up by Tk0.34 to Tk0.70 per unit for all consumers, depending on how much they use. 

Furthermore, he said that as of March 1, consumers will be subject to dynamic gasoline pricing, meaning that the price of petroleum fuel will fluctuate based on rates on the global market.

"Each month fuel price will be declared for the consumers," he continued.
