PSTC holds girls’ football match on the occasion of International Women's Day

Population Services and Training Center (PSTC)'s GOAL project has organised football match, prize distribution ceremony and discussion on Wednesday.

The programme was held at 10:00am at the City Corporation Adarsha High School at Dhalpur of Dhaka on the occasion of International Women's Day to be celebrated on March 8, said a press release.

The theme of International Women's Day 2024 is ‘Gender Equality through Economic Empowerment’ meaning to create an environment suitable for women in knowing about their place in the society. 

International Women's Day plays an important role in establishing women's rights and ensuring equality. This day inspires women to fight for their rights and participate equally in society. It is very important for women to be aware and educated. Society will progress only if women are safe, educated and aware. International Women's Day is an important step towards achieving gender equality.

Deputy Secretary, Regional Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate, Zone-5, Mohammad Shakhawat Hossain Sarkar was present as the chief guest while Ward No. 49 Councilor Alhaj Badal Sardar, Iqbal Hossain of City Corporation Adarsh High School were present as special guests.

Executive Director of PSTC, Dr. Noor Mohammad chaired the programme.

"I was impressed with the interest of today's girls to watch the football tournament, their will to play was strong," said Noor Mohammad.

Also present were PSTC Head of Program Dr. Mahabubul Alam, Anita Sharif Chowdhury, Faisal Talukder, Rayat Noor, Shyamali Akhtar, Ismat Ara Khan, Sirajum Monira Shimu and Mahmuda Nasreen. 

All the coaches and all the participants of the GOAL project were also present.
