TCB raises sugar prices by Tk 30 a kg

The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has increased the selling price of sugar by 43 percent, or Tk 30 per kilogramme (kg), in a bid to control subsidy bills. 

From Thursday onwards, the state-eun agency would offer discounted pricing on rice, dates, lentils, soybean oil to one crore TCB cardholder families.

TCB will sell sweetener at Tk 100 per kg.

Now, a kilogram of sugar costs between Tk 140 and Tk 150 in Dhaka's retail marketplaces. 

However, the TCB kept the prices for lentils, rice, and soybean oil the same. There, dates were sold by the kilogram for Tk 150.
