Hijacked Bangladeshi ship docks near a Somali port: BMMOA

The cargo ship that was taken over and carrying the Bangladeshi flag had grounded 20 miles off the coast of the Garacad port in Somalia, said The Bangladesh Merchant Marine Officers' Association (BMMOA) said on Thursday afternoon.

At 1:00pm, BMMOA General Secretary Md Shakawat Hossain announced that a global shipping source monitoring the ship's movements had confirmed its most recent position. 

KSRM Media Adviser Mizanul Islam reports that the ship has dropped anchor approximately twenty miles off the coast of Somalia.

The ship is owned by KSRM's sister firm, SR Shipping Limited. 

Mizanul claims that no word has yet been exchanged between the pirates and the ship owners.

He continued by saying that they might not hear back from the pirates for a few more days, maybe even three or more. 

Around six in the morning, the ship was sailing toward the coast approximately 72 nautical miles off the port of Garacad in Somalia.
