10 named for Swadhinata Padak awards

Dr. Mubarak Ahmad Khan, the creator of jute polythene bags, has been shortlisted by the government for the Swadhinata Padak Awards along with ten other persons.
The winners of Bangladesh's highest civilian award were named by the Cabinet Division on Friday in honor of their exceptional national contributions.
For their contributions to Bangladesh's independence and the Liberation War, the government has honored Kazi Abdus Sattar, the late Abu Naim Md Nazibuddin Khan (Khurram), and Flight Sergeant late Md Fazlul Haque.
The "independence award" was given to renowned scientist Dr. Mubarak Ahmad Khan in recognition of his contributions to science and technology.
Mohammad Rafiquzzaman took home the prize for culture, Dr. Harishankar Das for medical science, and sportsman Firoza Khatun for sports.
Dr. Mollah Obaydullah Baki, a Freedom Fighter, and SM Abraham Lincoln have also been nominated for this honor in recognition of their contributions to social services.
An 18-carat gold medal, Tk 300,000, and a certificate expressing gratitude for their contributions were given to each of the recipients.
