DMP won't allow traders to do business on roads

The traffic division will not allow traders to engage in business activities on the road during the holy month of Ramadan in the city.

Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic Division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Md Munibur Rahman they have taken strict measures against business on the roads of Dhaka.

He was addressing a press conference on 'traffic management and guidance in the holy month of Ramadan' at DMP Media Centre on Thursday.

He observed that most of the vehicles try to go to their destinations in a hurry, creating unnecessary traffic congestion at various important intersections.

He mentioned that in the existing reality of the metropolis, if a signal is activated for a one-lane vehicle at a three-lane intersection, the other lanes have to be temporarily closed, forcing traffic division to face over-vehicle pressure.

Most people move to their residences before iftar, Munibur, said, adding that it creates a challenge to control line management before iftar. 

Munibur Rahman urged the city dwellers to start their journey towards home soon after ending of office period. 

The traffic division has taken strict measures against car parking since the beginning of Ramadan.
