No holiday on April 9 before Eid-ul-Fitr

The cabinet has rejected the recommendation of extending holiday on April 9 before Eid-ul-Fitr made by the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order.

The cabinet meeting was held at the Prime Minister's Office on Monday morning with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

To make it easier for travelers to return to their hometowns, the committee on Sunday proposed adding Eid-ul-Fitr holidays by one day.

This year's Eid-ul-Fitr is likely to be held on April 11. The government has already declared April 10-12 as Eid vacation.
