Govt body recommends lowering bus prices by 3 paisas per km

The committee responsible for determining bus fares has proposed a 3 paisa per kilometer cut.

Nur Mohammad Mazumder-led committee placed the recomendation during a meeting on Monday at the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) headquarters.

The proposed intercity bus fare would be Tk 2.12 per kilometer instead of Tk 2.15 per km, he said adding that the fare for city buses would be Tk 2.42 per kilometer instead of Tk 2.45.

The Road Transport and Highways Division will receive the recommendation, according to the BRTA chairman, and if it is approved, it will publish a circular in this regard.
