Miscreants attack Thanchi's Sonali Bank

Gunmen attacked Sonali Bank in Bandarban's Thanchi Upazila around 12:30 pm on Wednesday.

AGM of Sonali Bank of Bandarban branch Osman Gani confirmed the truth of the incident and said that some armed miscreants surrounded the entire Thanchi market at around 12:30 pm and moved in front of the bank, opened fire and left the spot creating panic. 

“Sonali and Krishi Bank are located side by side in Thanchi Bazar. As a result of attack and firing, panic spread among the officers of Krishi Bank,” he added.

He also said that so far no money has been looted from the bank. Security has been beefed up at all bank branches in the region after the incident.

Earlier on Tuesday at around 8:30 pm, gunmen broke the vault of Sonali Bank in Ruma upazila of Bandarban and looted around Tk 2 crore.
