Hospitals ordered to prepare for heatwave

A severe heat wave is affecting the whole country, causing various illnesses. Health Minister Dr. Samanta Lal Sen has directed the hospitals in the country to be prepared to receive patients affected by the heatwave. He has also suggested not admitting any patients who don't need immediate medical attention. 

The minister gave the directions at a press conference at the Secretariat on Sunday. 

He said, there is a risk of heat stroke in such weather. To manage these patients, new policies have been made and sent to hospitals. There is ample stock of saline and medicine. As there is a heat wave, he advised hospitals not to admit cold cases and patients who do not need immediate operations. 

Dr. Samanta Lal Sen advised the children and the elderly to not leave the house unless necessary. He also said that educational institutes may remain closed for a longer period if deemed necessary. 

State Minister for Health Dr. Rokeya Sultana also spoke at the press conference. She said that the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Dedicated Covid-19 hospital will be prepared to tackle heat wave patients.
