Heat alert issued for 3 more days

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a heat wave alert for three more days.

"The prevailing heat wave over the country may continue during the next 72 hours commencing today (22nd April 2024)," reads the BMD aler message for the heat wave issued Monday. 

Due to increasing moisture incursion, the discomfort may increase, the message added. 

The regular weather forecast issued by the BMD reads: a very severe heat wave is sweeping over Pabna and Chuadanga districts. A Severe heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Rajshahi, Tangail, Jashore and Kushtia. A mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Rangpur, Barishal & Mymensingh divisions and the rest parts of the Dhaka, Rajshahi and Khulna divisions and the districts of Srimangal and Chandpur, and it may continue.

Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind are likely to occur at one or two places over the Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, with hails at isolated places. The weather may remain mainly dry with a temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country

The country's maximum temperature on Sunday was recorded at 42.2 degrees Celsius at Chuadanga and the minimum temperature on Monday was recorded at 20.6 degrees Celsius at Dinajpur.
