Primary schools to reopen Sunday, pre-primary classes to remain closed

All primary schools across the country will reopen on Saturday amid the severe heatwave while the class activities of pre-primary will remain shut until further notice.

A press release signed by Mahbubur Rahman Tuhin, public relations officer of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, made the announcement on Saturday.

Schools operating in one shift will operate from 8:00am to 11:30am every day, reads the press release.

In schools running in two shifts, the first shift will be from 8:00am to 9:30am and the second shift will continue from 9:45am to 11:30am, it adds.

However, the press release reminds that the assembly will remain closed until the heatwave reaches a tolerable level.

On April 20, the government announced that all primary and secondary schools, and colleges across the country will remain shut from April 21 to 27 due to the heatwave.
