Hefajat leader Mamunul freed from jail

Former joint secretary general of Hefajat-e-Islam Maolana Mamunul Haque was freed from the Kashimpur Central Jail at Gazipur at around 11am on Friday. 

Confirming the matter, Jail Superintendent Subrata Kumar Bala said Mamunul's bail documents reached the jail on Thursday afternoon. After verification, he was freed on Friday morning. 

Locals on April 3, 2021, held Mamunul with a woman at Sonargaon Royal Resort in Narayanganj. Later, activists and supporters of Hefazat-e-Islam came and vandalized the resort and took him away.

The woman later filed a rape case against Mamunul on April 30, 2021.
