23 crew returns home after 64 days

Bangladeshi vessel MV Abdullah, which was hijacked by Somali pirates with 23 crews on board, returned to Bangladesh today. The ship anchored at Kutubdia channel on Monday (13 May) at around 6pm. 

The crew will meet their family 64 days after the hijacking incident. Their family members will meet them at Sadarghat on Tuesday (14 May) afternoon. 

MV Abdullah was sailing from Maputo in Mozambique to Al Hamriyah in the UAE with 58,000 tonnes of coal when Somali pirates took control of it. The pirates released the ship and its crews on 14 April after receiving the ransom.
