Crew members of MV Abdullah reached Chattogram port

Over a month after the ship was released by Somali pirates, the 23 crew members of MV Abdullah reached Chattogram port on Tuesday afternoon.

They left Kutubdia for Chattogram in the morning by a lighter vessel, MV Jahanmoni-3.

MV Abdullah dropped anchor in Kutubdia on Monday evening.

The family members received the sailors soon after their arrival at the port around 4:00pm.

Their joys know no bounds for the safe return of their beloved ones.

The Somali pirates held them captive for about 33 days.

On March 12, MV Abdullah came under attack by Somali pirates when it was heading to Al Hamriyah port in the UAE from from the Maputo port of Mozambique with 55,000 tonnes of coal.

On April 14, the pirates released the ship after reportedly taking a good ransom.
