US will not lift sanctions on RAB

The United States said on Thursday that the US is not withdrawing sanctions against the RAB and claims of such actions are false. 

At a scheduled press briefing, a journalist told US State Department Principal Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel that after the meeting with the visiting Assistant Secretary Donald Lu, Bangladesh’s ruling prime minister's advisor told the reporters that the White House and the State Departments are very much willing to remove the sanctions as US imposed sanction on RAB, Rapid Action Battalion, for the extreme violation of human rights and extrajudicial killing.

However, Patel refuted the claim. He said, "Those claims are false. The U.S. is not withdrawing sanctions against the RAB. Those claims are false. Sanctions are intended to change behaviour and promote accountability."
