Bangladesh declares one-day state mourning after Iran president's death

Bangladesh has declared one day of mourning on Thursday (23 May) in memory of Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi and other Iranian officials who were killed in a helicopter crash on Monday. 

The declaration was made in a cabinet division press release issued Tuesday. 

The national flag will be kept at half-mast at all government, semi-government and autonomous institutions, all government and non-government buildings including educational institutions and Bangladesh missions abroad in observance of the state mourning.

Special prayers will be offered at all mosques and other religious institutions seeking eternal peace of the departed souls, the release adds.
