Voter turnout may be 30 percent: CEC

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal said that more than 30 percent of votes may have been cast in the second phase of the 156 upazila parishad elections. 

He said that the exact rate of vote casting will be available on Wednesday. 

CEC made the comments while talking to reporters at the Nirbachan Bhaban in the city after ending the voting on Tuesday afternoon. 

Four other Election Commissioners were present at that time.

CEC said, “There was no incident of violence in the elections. A few voters were injured in two separate incidents. However, there was no major violence. The election was held fairly and peacefully.”
