Low pressure forms over Bay, rain likely

A low-pressure area has formed over the Bay of Bengal and it is likely to intensify further, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said on Wednesday. 

According to the regular weather bulletin issued by the BMD, rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind are likely to occur at many places over Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions, at a few places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, and at one or two places over Khulna and Barishal divisions. 

Meanwhile, a mild heatwave is sweeping over Sylhet division, as well as Dhaka, Netrokona, Chattogram, Rangamati, Feni, Cox's Bazar, Bagerhat, Jashore, and Chuadanga districts. The heatwave may persist. 

The country's maximum temperature on Tuesday was recorded at 37.5 degrees Celsius at Chuadanga and the minimum temperature on Wednesday was recorded at 22.4 degrees Celsius at Tetulia. 

The maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6 am on Wednesday was recorded at 64 millimetres (mm) at Patuakhali.

Day temperature may remain nearly unchanged and night temperature may rise slightly over the country.
