MP Azim killed by Bangladeshi criminals: DB Harun

Jhenaidah-4 Constituency Member of Parliament Anwarul Azim Anar has been brutally murdered by some Bangladeshi criminals, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch (DB) chief Mohammad Harun Or Rashid.

He made the disclosure while briefing reporters at the DB office on Minto Road in the capital around 2:30 pm on Wednesday.

DB boss said they were investigating the murder incident of three-time Member of Parliament of Kaliganj Anwarul Azim with great importance.

He said, ”It was a brutal murder. We are investigating whether it is a matter of family, financial, or miscreants’ crack down issue in the area. We are closely working with the Indian police on the matter. We are talking to them all the time. We are getting a lot of information. But we do not want to make those public for the sake of investigation.”

DB chief also said, “As a Member of Parliament was brutally killed by some criminals of Bangladesh, we have already brought some of them under justice. We are withholding the names of those detained for the sake of investigation. The rest of the criminals will also be brought under justice soon.”

However, Harun did not give any answer to the question whether MP Azim's body has been recovered or not.

Earlier, MP's daughter Mumtarin Ferdous spoke to reporters at the DB office. She has demanded exemplary punishment for her father's murderers.
