Three suspects on 8-day remand

A Dhaka court on Friday placed three suspects on eight-day remand each in connection with the murder case of Jhenaidah-4 Constituency MP Anwarul Azim Anar. 

The three remanded are- Syed Amanullah, Faisal Bhuiyan, and Silisti Rahman. They were produced before Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Friday afternoon. Police pleaded to place them on a 10-day remand, however, the court granted them eight days after hearing the plea. 

MP Anwarul Azim Anar allegedly went to Kolkata for medical treatment on May 12. His family informed police when they lost contact with him on May 14. A search operation was launched to trace the three-time Awami League MP.

On Wednesday, India's police said he was murdered in a flat in Sanjiva Garden of the New Town area in Kolkata. 

Kolkata CID later arrested a Bangladeshi man named Siam, who was occupying the flat in Sanjiva Garden on 13 May. Investigators also arrested a cab driver named Juber. The rental car which was used to carry away the body parts was seized on Thursday morning.
