Pedestrian killed after gas cylinder explosion in Badda

A pedestrian was killed in a gas line explosion on the ground floor of a three-story building in the capital's Badda area on Thursday morning.

The deceased was identified as Solaiman,36, a hotel worker from Phulbariaupazila in Mymensingh district.

A homemaker woman was injured in the incident. She was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.

"The accident occurred at former traffic inspector AKM Rahmat Ullah Chowdhury's house at 4 no DIT road under Badda Police Station at 6:43am", said Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) official (media) Talha Bin Jashim.

After receiving information, two firefighting units from Baridhara Fire Station rushed to the spot and recovered the body of the victim.

The body was later handed over to the police.

The primary investigation showed that the incident happened from a leakage of the gas cylinder on the ground floor of the building. However, more details can be confirmed after the investigation, said the fire official.
