ATU searches suspected militant den in Netrakona

The Anti Terrorism Unit (ATU) of Police launched a search operation inside a house at Bhasa Para village under Kailati union of Netrakona Sadar upazila on Sunday morning, suspecting it to be a 'militant den'.

According to local sources, the two-storied residence is owned by Abdul Mannan, a former professor at the Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET). The house was rented by a man named Arif two years ago. After renting, he raised the boundary wall higher, placed several CCTV cameras, and barred locals from entering the house. 

Recently, police received information that the house was being used to train militants. At around 1pm on Saturday, police surrounded the house. They started a search operation inside the house at around 8:30am on Sunday.

Superintendent of Police (SP)of Netrakona Foyaz Ahmed told the Daily Samakal that police have already found some evidence. It is suspected that the house was being used as a militants' den.
