Power cuts, high fuel prices shutting down factories: A. K. Azad

Due to electricity power cuts and the rising price of fuels, many industrial factories are shutting down, Faridpur-3 (Sadar) Member of Parliament A. K. Azad has said. 

"The price of fuel was hiked with the promise of continuous supply, but power cuts did not stop. Electricity is not available for 7-8 hours. Factories are running on diesel and CNG. This has hiked the expenses. Many factories are shutting up," he said. 

A. K. Azad made the remarks at a discussion event held by the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) at the BRAC Centre Inn in Dhaka's Mohakhali on Sunday.
