Govt gets Tk 1,648 crore as tolls from Padma Bridge

The government has earned Tk 1,648 crore from tolls of Padma Bridge in the past two years.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader made the disclosure following a board meeting of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority (BBA) at Setu Bhaban in the capital on Tuesday.

A total of 1.27 crore vehicles used the Padma Bridge since its inauguration on June 25, 2022, he said.

Quader also said that the BBA, the project's implementing agency, has repaid Tk 948 crore to the Finance Division in six installments.

Some three crore people in 21 districts in the southwestern region of Bangladesh are getting benefits from this mighty bridge over mighty Padma River.
