Foysal, Mostafizur remanded in Azim murder case

A Dhaka court has placed accused Foysal Ali and Mostafizur Rahman on six-day remand each in a case lodged over the abduction and murder of Awami League lawmaker of Jhenaidah-4 Anwarul Azim Anar in Kolkata, India. 

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ataullah passed the order on Thursday.

Earlier in the day, they were produced before the court seeking a 10-day remand. 

A special team of detective branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) detained the two from Khagrachari. Posing them as devotees, they were hiding at a remote Kali Temple in the district for the last couple of days. 

On May 22, the victim's daughter Mumtarin Ferdous Dorin filed the case with the capital's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station. 

Anwarul, a three-time MP and president of Jhenaidah's Kaliganj upazila unit Awami League, was believed to be strangled to death and his body was cut into pieces at a flat in Kolkata of India.
