ACC asks Benazir, Matiur to submit wealth statements

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has directed former Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed and National Board of Revenue (NBR) official Matiur Rahman to submit their wealth statements as well as the statements of their family members.

ACC Secretary Khorsheda Yasmeen told reporters at its headquarters on Tuesday that the national anti-graft body sought their wealth statements by issuing separate notices upon them.

The ACC asked them to submit the wealth statements within 21 days.

Serving notices upon them, the ACC wants to know whether the members of Benazir and Matiur have assets beyond their wealth seized by court, said Yasmeen.

She said the preliminary probe of the ACC has discovered wealth of Benazir Ahmed, his wife Zeeshan Mirza, eldest daughter Farheen Rishta Binte Benazir and second daughter Tahsin Raisa Binte Benazir beyond their known source of income.

The ACC has information too that they have more wealth in the country and abroad, she said, adding that, consequently the commission has served notices upon them seeking their wealth statements.
