PSTC celebrates 46th anniversary

Population Services and Training Centre (PSTC) has celebrated its 46th anniversary at the headquarters in the capital’s Gulshan on Thursday. 

In the anniversary celebration, employees and stakeholders talked about their success, future plan and opinions, ideas on expanding their operational reach and increasing the quality of services, said a press release.

At its project offices and clinics, PSTC held discussion sessions and a cake-cutting ceremony to mark the occasion.

The event also included dialogue with journalists from newspapers and TV channels followed by a cultural programme. 

PSTC Executive Director Dr. Noor Mohammad highlighted its identity, evolution, achievements, and the current landscape and challenges of increasing awareness, availability and quality of services offered for the socially disadvantaged population of Bangladesh. 

Over the last 46 years, PSTC has served over 50 lakh people, providing antenatal and postnatal care to more than 1.5 lakh pregnant women, healthcare services including vaccinations to over 3 lakh children, and family planning services to more than 3.5 lakh couples. 

It has also helped raise awareness on sexual and reproductive health and rights among over 1.5 lakh adolescents, and provided skills education and training to more than 1,000 women and girls to empower them as community leaders. 

PSTC Treasurer Md Badrul Munir presided over the ceremony.
