31 Rohingya, 2 Myanmar soldiers arrive at St Martin's Island

A boat carrying 31 Rohingyas and two members of Myanmar's Border Guard Police (BGP) landed on St Martin's Island early on Friday. 

Among the Rohingyas are 10 women, 10 men, and 11 children. 

Confirming the matter Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Adnan Chowdhury said the BGB and Coast Guard have taken charge of the incident. 

"I heard the boat's engine broke down in heavy rain, and they drifted here," the UNO said. 

According to the locals in St Martin's, the fight between Myanmar's Junta force and the rebels in Rakhine's Mongdu has become intense, causing the locals to seek shelter elsewhere. The boat carrying Rohingyas was on its way to Sitwe from Mongdu, when it broke down midway. It struggled through rainstorms to reach St Martin's Island.  They were taken to a hotel on the island.
