IGP Mamun's tenure extended for another year

The government has extended Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun's tenure by another year. 

The public administration ministry on Friday issued a circular, signed by its deputy secretary Bhaskar Debnath Bappi, in this regard.

Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun first took charge as the country's 31st IGP in 2022. Mamun was serving as the director general of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) before his appointment as the IGP.  He took the charge from outgoing IGP Dr Benazir Ahmed.

In 2023, the government extended Mamun's tenure for a year and a half.
