Students to continue movement despite SC's status quo on HC order

Anti-quota protesters will continue their Bangla Blockade programme until the government forms a commission regarding the reform of the quota system.

Hasnat Abdullah, one of the coordinators of the movement, said quota protesting students would continue their movement until the government forms a commission to reform the quota system.

He was talking to journalists in the capital’s Shahbagh around Wednesday noon.

Students and job seekers have been protesting the reinstatement of the quota system in government jobs for the last seven days.

They are demanding reinstatement of a 2018 circular that abolished the quota system in government jobs.

The quota protesters asserted that the executive division of the state must form a commission in this regard.

They also vowed that they will continue their movement until there is a permanent solution to the quota system.

On Wednesday, Appellate Division made order of status quo on the High Court's verdict for four weeks.

On June 4, the Supreme Court upheld a High Court verdict that declared the government circular illegal.
