Dhaka records 130mm rainfall in 6hrs

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Thursday issued a heavy rainfall warning on Thursday. Consequently, the capital experienced heavy rain early on Friday. The BMD recorded 130mm of rain from 6am to noon. 

Meteorologist Tariful Newaz Kabir said rain will continue all day today. However, rainfall may be reduced from tomorrow (Saturday). A reduction in rainfall will result in slightly higher temperatures next week. 

Meanwhile, many areas in Dhaka have become severely waterlogged due to the rain, causing immense suffering to the commuters. Karwan Bazar, Shahjahanpur, Malibagh railgate, Mouchak, Moghbazar, Tejturi Bazar, Tejkuni Para, Dhanmondi, Sheorapara, Mollapara were affected the most. 

Many vehicles broke down on the waterlogged roads. The traffic division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has asked the city dwellers to head out of the house earlier to reach their destination.
