Students block Mohakhali railgate, traffic at a standstill

Students demanding the quota system reform and protesting Monday's attack on them blocked the rail track at the Mohakhali railgate area of the capital on Tuesday. 

Students from educational institutions near the Mohakhali rail track gathered there at around 12:30pm. They stopped two trains at around 1:15pm. 

As a result of the blockade, train movement from Kamalapur Railway Station has remained halted from 1:42pm on Tuesday. Only the Padma route is now active. Dhaka's connection with the rest of the country has snapped on all other routes.

Meanwhile, the blockade has also brought road traffic at Mohakhali to a standstill. 

Bangladesh Railway Director Md Nahid Hasan Khan told the Daily Samakal that two trains are now stuck at Tejgaon Station.
